Project 4 (final Project) - Mission accomplish!!

This is the first time in 18 years that i've experienced this feeling. Its hard to describe, but to me its something like approaching heaven, where i felt weightless and some extra ordinary force is waiting for me in another dimension. Well, i'm not the only one to experience this, most of my fellow classmates too i think. Project 4, is one of the most time consuming project in my 18 years of life, i myself couldn't believe that i've spent nearly 110 hours to complete this task. After some calculations, this is what i get.

1st draft, i drew 6 pictures of buildings and roads in melaka after the trip. Spent about 1.5 hours for each sketch of picture. So, spent around 9hours.

2nd draft, after the lecturer approved my drawings, i drew it again onto an A1 size watercolor paper ( 59.4 * 84.0)cm. Had some problems with the sequence of my pictures, but solved when one of my friend, Henry went back to melaka again to take pictures we missed during our trip. Arigatou Henry !!! lol. Took me 5 days to complete my drawing, spent about 9~10 hours per day. Total = around 50 hours.

Final draft, after the lecturer was satisfied with my drawings, its time to color it. The study room became my home when it took me 5 days, saturday - thursday (except tuesday cos i'm sitting for my physics exam on wednesday) to complete the coloring and lettering process. Slept for like 3~4 hours for the last 2 days. (wednesday and thursday). Spent about 10~11 hours per day on it. Total = around 50 hours too.

Submission day - 7th nov 2008. After spending for about 110 hours for my final project, finally i'm able to submit it. Final exam starts on 10th nov, so i've like 2 days to study only @@ (given 2 weeks study leave, but used 70+ % of time on my project), God bless me T_T

So here are some pictures of my final project.

Arc101 - Project NO.4 - Melaka Heritage Trail

Sienzzz, now comes this sem's final project, the most detailed and time consuming.

PROJECT BRIEF

1.) In groups of three, students are required to meander around the Melaka Heritage Site before selecting the urban spatial sequences that they like. Since this is an individual submission, make
sure your views differ from those in your group. Draw out the sequence on a map.

2.)Record all visual and non-visual experience throughout the urban spatial sequence/trail.
Notice the different influence of various architectural styles of architecture seen throughout
the sequence. Notice how the Dutch, Straits Chinese and Peranakan culture and architecture is
reflected here. Make sure the sequence ends with an OUTSTANDING BUILDING.

3.) Student are to analyze the selected perspective and compose into one A1 size paper. Annotations and descriptions can be added to enchance your presentation.

4.) Students are advised to achieve VISUAL BALANCE in the composed drawings.

5.) The composition should also reflect the spirit of place and urban context the heritage area of Melaka.

6.) Students are instructed to use PEN for the text and WATERCOLOUR rendering with pencil outline as the media for final presentation.

7.) All process drawings of the studies are to be documented in the form of a journal/sketchbook containing analytical sketches, diagrams, freehand perspective drawings, notes, and to some extent color studies.

Wish me luck ya... XD

Project 3 : Mission Accomplish !!!!

yea, after another torturing month, finally, i'm done with my 3rd project of this semester - architectural composition.

I felt lucky cause out of 28 students in my class, only 4 passed. Like i mentioned in my previous blog, if the lecturer is not satisfy with your artwork, you have to RE-DO it. My "happiness" did not last long when one by one my friends were request to RE-DO their work. I spent nearly 2 weeks to color my work, and most of my friends did that as well, some of them never even slept the day before we hand in our artworks, and yet they have to re-do it just like tat. Its like you've been building a house for a few months, and suddenly a strong wind just blow it apart....imagine the feeling....

In overall, i've spent approximately 1 week on drafting 3 different compositions, and then another week transfering the chosen draft onto an A2 watercolor paper, and then 2 weeks coloring it. Like any other A-level students, i have to attend classes, do maths, physics, stats, mechanics, presentations, disccusions, tutorials, quizes, exam and CTES (damn) T_T.....tatsukete kudasai....

Well, what to do, i should just be optimistic and think of the bright site :/

So here are some pictures i took after mission accomplished.

Thursday Night !!! 8pm-12am + Friday morning !!!! 12am - 4/5/6am

T_T yea its thursday night again, and friday morning, where ALUKians from class 6D sleep for like 2 hours maximum. (cos we have to pass up our project later :P)

So some of us started gathering at the study room ( just below my room :P) at about 8pm, to finish up our remaining art works.

For some reasons i changed my subject (building) to the Pantheon, and i've been drawing it for like 20+ hours. (of course not straight 20 hours la @@).

But the worst thing has yet to come, the moment when we show our artworks to the lecturer. Imagine you have been doing ur artwork for the whole week, sacrificing ur homework and playtime just to finish it. AND IF THE LECTURER IS NOT SATISFY WITH IT, hohoho, it feels like the end of the world. G.G, you have to REDO it.

Miraclely, i managed to finish my work be4 12am this particular thursday XD. So i can enjoy a good night sleep liao, wakakaka. sry my friends, cant accompany u all liao, sleep sin, ja ne, mata ashita (bye, see u guys tomoro) >.<

8pm, 18sept, all still so energetic lo...

4am, 19sept, @@

obviously we need to release tension :) by playing cs!!! LOL

Arc 101 - project no.3 Architectural composition

PROJECT BRIEF
1) Students are required to select multiple views (sections, elevations, plans and details) of a renowned building (an architectural wonder) including a study on its finishing in terms of its material and color and its climatic respone (i.e. lightning, daylight quality, shade and shadow, texture, etc)

2) Students are required to select appropriate buildings which portray unique ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES or HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

3) Each view is to be drawn on A2 size butter paper.

4) Analyse each of this view and compose it on an A2 paper. Develop the composition after tutorial sessions.

5) Students are to capture the concepts/spirit/meanings of the building and its significance (architecturally and symbolically) in the composition and rendering.

6)ALL drawing submitted must be colored drawing, using pencil color or wash(watercolor). A monochromatic color scheme is prefered.

WoW, when i saw this, i knew thursday nightS no need to sleep liao @@ sien sien sien SIEN SIEN SIEN sOs sOs.

Anyway i've decided to draw the building composition of ISE SHRINE, a famous shrine in japan,
built to worship the goddess Amaterasu. I choose it cause of the unique shape of its roof, resembles a samurai's helmet, kinda cool. Actually i wanted to draw Milan Cathedral, but my lectural told me to forget it, cause i will start cursing myself if i choose it, lol.

So here are some pictures of ISE shrine :)

ALUK'S ANNUAL DINNER

Actually its only for my senpais and super senpais. But then they allow some juniors to join too, so i decided to follow, gain some experience ma~

They held it at the summit hotel, subang jaya. To me its quite nice, with all the great foods and performance ( i haven really eat good foods since i came to intec :C , except for the hainamese chicken rice at section 6's mak endon, LOL).

Its actually a great experience as i get to know my super senpais, who are going to "fly" (thats the term we use in intec) soon. From them, i get to know roughly how i'm gona spend my 2 years here.

kyo wa totemo tanoshikatta yo, (i enjoyed myself very much today).
Thats what i said to myself at the end of the dinner.
